Eat Your Way To Happy Hair

Clinical Nutritionist for hair health specialists Viviscal Eve Kalnik has shares her tips for happy hair:

Eat Protein

Hair is essentially made of protein so ensure that you have adequate amounts of protein at each meal in the form of organic meat and poultry, fish, eggs, cheese or yogurt and pulses/legumes (such as lentils or chickpeas). Each day this should roughly equate to the same amount in grams per your weight in kg.

Good Fats

Pay attention to taking in sufficient amounts of Omega-3 essential fatty acids found most abundantly in oily fish. You can also find this in organic grass-fed meat (it must be organic for this benefit), organic eggs and in a plant-based form such as flaxseed, chia seeds and walnuts.

Iron It Out

Iron has a crucial role in helping red blood cells carry oxygen to the cells that influence healthy hair growth. Red meat (ideally organic grass-fed), eggs and lentils are great sources of Iron.

Go ACE

ACE your vitamins. Vitamin A helps with cell growth. You can find this vitamin in cheese and eggs as well as sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Vitamin C supports collagen production, an important element of healthy hair growth- find it in peppers, broccoli and spinach (vitamin C also helps with iron absorption). Whilst Vitamin E provides healthy oils and antioxidant benefits – all nuts and seeds will give bountiful amounts of this.
