This month is very special for My Weekly as exactly 110 years ago in April, My Weekly magazine published for the very first time and we’ve been there for generations of women ever since. And now we want to share our birthday joy with you!

While our birthday celebrations have had to be scaled back due to the pandemic, they are definitely not cancelled, and we’d love to share our day with all our readers, especially those celebrating a birthday this month who deserve an extra special boost!

Stuart Johnstone, My Weekly Editor, explains…

My Weekly has survived two world wars as well as various social and economic challenges, and here we are, still producing our top class magazine in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, reaching our readers who now more than ever need a feel good read.”

At My Weekly, we’ve always put our readers at the heart of everything we do, their zest for life motivates us and while we aren’t celebrating our birthday as we originally planned, we still want to give something back and celebrate hand in hand with anyone else experiencing a birthday at this time.

Is Your Big Day This April?

To spread the joy, the magazine is shining a spotlight on women celebrating their birthdays in lockdown this April.

If you know a My Weekly reader who has a birthday in April, and don’t be shy, you are very welcome to nominate yourself, get in touch with the My Weekly team by email,, or use the hashtag #MyWeeklySurprise on Facebook or Twitter, to share your plans on celebrating the special day in isolation. Include a recent picture of yourself, too. We’ll delight a few lucky readers with a special digital My Weekly surprise!

We’ve already kicked-off our special day by sending a My Weekly gift hamper to Jessie Sinclair of Perth who is also celebrating her 110th birthday this week – direct to her care home as a treat!

I joined the My Weekly team ten years ago, and I love the variety of topics we cover both online and in the magazine. I manage the digital content for the brand, sharing features and information on the website, social media and in our digital newsletters. I also work for Your Best Ever Christmas - perfect as it's my favourite time of year!
