Who knew canned fruit could turn into an appetiser so elegant and indulgent! These tartines will impress as part of a special dinner, or treat yourself to a lunch full of French flavour…

Preparation/cooking time: 15min
Serves 4

  1. In a non-stick frying pan and over medium heat, add 1tsp butter, 1tsp brown sugar and the walnuts. Mix everything together with a wooden spoon until it caramelises. Set aside on a plate.
  2. Cut the pear halves in two and place to one side. In the same frying pan, add a sprig of thyme and the remaining butter and brown sugar. Let the butter melt over medium heat, then add the pears. Cook until golden.
  3. To assemble the tartines: Toast the bread slices then spread a thin layer of your preferred soft blue cheese over. Place the pear slices on top. Add the walnuts and a drizzle of honey to finish.
