The Best New TV Shows To Watch July 2024

There’s so much exciting new telly this month! Kick your feet up and enjoy the best new TV shows coming in July, 2025.
Too Much
When a heartbroken New Yorker moves to London hoping for a love story, she falls in love with an indie musician, and he is not the typical romantic hero.
Lena Dunham co-wrote, ‘Too Much’, with her husband, British musician Luis Felber. The story is inspired by their relationship, and the quirky wild stories born from their romance. Dunham’s fictional alter ago is Jessica, played by Megan Salter, a New York television producer who’s going through a painful breakup from a long-term relationship. After running away to London with daydreams of new, ever-lasting love, an indie musician called Felix (played by Will Sharpe) turns out to be the unexpected man of her dreams.
Dunham directed the show, and also makes an appearance as Jessica’s depressed sister. Rita Wilson plays their mother and Rhea Perlman their grandmother. Richard E Grant plays Jessica’s boss and a whole host of other guest stars make an appearance, including Andrew Scott, Naomi Watts and Rita Ora.
Ballard
Ballard follows Detective Renée Ballard (played by Maggie Q), first introduced in Bosch: Legacy, as she takes command of the LAPD’s cold-case unit. Underfunded and overlooked, the unit handles long-forgotten murders and Jane/John Doe cases. Set on the Westside of L.A., this spinoff continues the gritty, character‑driven tone of the Bosch universe.
Known for her empathy and tenacity, Detective Renée Ballard is determined to bring justice to the voiceless while confronting deep-rooted corruption in the department. With a small team of outsiders and volunteers – and occasional help from retired detective Harry Bosch (played by Titus Welliver) – she battles bureaucracy and her own past trauma to uncover truth in the city’s darkest corners.
Such Brave Girls, Season 2
July 3 on BBC iPlayer
Following a BAFTA-winning debut Such Brave Girls returns with six sharply comic episodes. This season dials up the dysfunctional chaos of the three Johnson women – mother Deb, and sisters Josie and Billie. Deb (played by Louise Brealey) intensifies her frantic pursuit of financial salvation via her relationship with Dev, while simultaneously amplifying the familial pressure cooker.
Josie (played by Kat Sadler) continues to wrestle with mental illness and sexual identity, leaning ever more on clingy boyfriend Seb as a crutch. Meanwhile, Billie (played by Lizzie Davidson) dives headfirst into a reckless affair with a much older, married man, which exposes her deep-seated “daddy issues”.
This season explores the depths of generational trauma, using savage, dark comedy to reveal uncomfortable truths.
Tour de France: Unchained
The third and final season of ‘Tour de France: Unchained’ covers the 2024 Tour de France in eight episodes.
At its core is the explosive rivalry between Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard, with Pogačar ultimately claiming overall victory after winning multiple stages – including three in the Alps – and outpacing both Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel.
The season also features Vingegaard’s emotional comeback from a near-fatal crash, capped by a stage win, and Evenepoel’s breakout time-trial triumph. Other highlights include Mark Cavendish’s record-equalling 35th stage win, Biniam Girmay’s historic successes, breakthrough performances from the likes of Richard Carapaz, Ben O’Connor, Tom Pidcock, and Thibaut Pinot.
A must-watch for any Tour de France fans.
Nine Perfect Strangers, Season 2 finale
Nicole Kidman stars as Masha, a suspicious wellness guru now under federal scrutiny, who relocates her psychedelic retreat to Zauberwald. The isolated Alpine asylum is run by her mentor, Helena (played by Lena Olin), and overseen by scientist Martin (played by Lucas Englander).
In this season, nine new guests arrive seeking healing: Brian (Murray Bartlett), a scandal‑haunted children’s TV host; former nun Agnes (Dolly de Leon); Peter (Henry Golding) and his billionaire dad David (Mark Strong); Victoria (Christine Baranski) and her daughter Imogen (Annie Murphy); and couple Tina (singer King Princess) and Wolfie (Maisie Richardson‑Sellers).
Masha deploys a cutting‑edge psychedelic “device” to force each to relive and confront past trauma, gradually revealing hidden connections and motives among the group.
