All Aboard The Magellan For Norway & The Scottish Isles

BY FICTION EDITOR KAREN BYROM

MV Magellan is a regular visitor to the shores of the Tay, where our offices are based, and I was lucky enough to be invited on board for lunch before she set sail on her latest cruise to the Scottish Isles & Faroes.

As over 1200 excited passengers boarded and settled in, I was given a whistle-stop tour of the ship, exploring the comfortable cabins; the decks and pool; gym, spa and games room; bars and theatre; and the gorgeous dining-room where a sumptuous 3-course lunch was served.

The cream of courgette soup, Delhi to London Vegetable Thali and Creme Brulee are typical of the delicious fare offered to all passengers throughout the duration of the cruise. You can dine a la carte or buffet style, and everywhere you go, attentive staff are on hand to ensure your every comfort.

You can choose from different levels of cabin – from the standard, which is roomy and comfortable, with enough storage place for that cocktail dress you’ll wear to impress at the Welcome & Farewell Captain’s Cocktail parties; to the penthouse with balcony and walk-in wardrobe!

There are loads of excursions available, and plenty to do on board, too, all day, every day, with book club, board game and table tennis get-togethers. Evening entertainment includes live music, dancing and cabaret.

If I were one of the lucky passengers, I’d certainly be sampling the delights of the spa, with its wide range of treatments, and you’d find me quite often in the ship’s library, too, tucked up in comfort with a book or two.

So impressed was I, I’m seriously considering booking up for next year’s Best of Norway & Scottish Isles, which departs from Dundee to visit Eidfjord, Flam and Bergen, Lerwick, Kirkwall, Portee and Tobermory before sailing back into Greenock.
