ITV has named Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley as the new This Morning presenters

News broke with a short clip on This Morning’s social media pages, which announced Cat Deeley as Ben Shephard’s new co-host.

In the promo video, we watch as Ben walks down the production corridor to hang a picture of Cat on the wall next to his own.

The duo will be taking over from former long-term hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Both hosts are thrilled to be joining the team as the new This Morning presenters

In a statement, Cat Deeley said: “This Morning is a national institution. Whenever it’s on, it’s like having your friends over – funny, smart, silly, heartfelt, informative and joyful – like all the greatest friendships!

“This Morning is and always will be the viewer’s show. Ben and I both know how much people love it, and with the help of an amazing team of people, we’re going to do our best to take care of it.”

Sadly this means that Ben Shephard will also be departing from Kate Garraway’s side on Good Morning Britain, but it’s an exciting re-direction for the presenter.

He said: “This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning. It’s an honour to be trusted with the reigns, join Alison and Dermot and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job.

“For the last ten years I’ve been waking up with our ITV daytime audience on GMB and I now look forward to spending time with Cat, welcoming the viewers home after the school run or from their early morning routines, with a cup of tea and a mix of everything that makes This Morning so loved.”

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will remain Friday hosts on This Morning.

The pair will officially join the family next month as the new This Morning presenters.

Cat and Ben will become the new faces of the show, fronting the Monday to Thursday airings, while Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will continue to hold the fort on Fridays.

Congratulations were in order as co-hosts jumped at the chance to celebrate Cat’s announcement.

Commenting on This Morning’s Instagram post Dermot O’Leary wrote: “Huzzah! Welcome to the fam,” while co-host Alison Hammond wrote: “So excited about this.”

Another My weekly favourite, Josie Gibson, who often appears on This Morning, commented: “I feel a work welcome party coming on!!!!!”
