Bridget Jones’ Diary 4: Expect A Tragic Plot Twist!

Bridget Jones' 4

Bridget Jones’ Diary 4 has been confirmed! Are you ready for another brutally honest entry?

According to reports, Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant will all be returning for another awkward yet charming instalment of Bridget Jones’ tumultuous life story.

This isn’t a huge surprise to anyone who’s obsessed with the franchise. While appearing The Talk in 2019, Zellweger confirmed that she had every intention of playing Bridget Jones however many times fans wanted her to.

“Bridget Jones: The Menopause,” she joked. “No, I know Helen’s [Fielding] written the book, and I love this character. So, I mean, if they call me, I’ll go running.”

According to the Mail Online, our leading lady is currently finding a place to stay in the UK. While filming the third movie, Bridget Jones’s Baby, Renee Zellweger was based in Kensington – some lucky neighbours may soon spot a glimpse of the star!

What is the plot of Bridget Jones’ 4? (SPOILERS)

Following the success of the first two films, Bridget Jones’ Diary in 2001 and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason in 2004, we were treated to a third movie Bridget Jones’ Baby in 2016. Unlike the first two, the third wasn’t based on any of the books.

When asked about a fourth movie instalment two years ago, author Helen Fielding revealed that a film adaptation of her 2013 novel Mad About the Boy was in the works. The story is set eight years after the third movie and four years after Bridget’s husband Darcy dies.

So prepare a box of tissues! We will watch Bridget navigate the difficulties of being a single parent who’s struggling to swim in the dating pool while in her fifties.

While appearing Lorraine to promote the third movie, Helen Fielding teased that in Mad About the Boy “…Bridget has a younger man. And I think it would make a lovely film.”

Helen Fielding also recently told Radio Times that every one of her films being made was a “miracle.”

Bridget Jones Mad About The Boy is set for US release on Valentine’s Day 2025, but no date has been announced for the UK.
