These guests are likely to feel at home at the festival’s location – the historic Cliveden House – which in the past hosted writers and thinkers including Alfred Lord Tennyson, George Bernard Shaw and Winston Churchill.

Speaking of last year’s festival, Succession actor Brian Cox described the event as “[an] extraordinary environment… I can’t think of anything more perfect.”

This year’s festival looks to live up to this glowing endorsement, as discussion, debate and thought-provoking ideas come together for a weekend of literary delight.

Other names in the programme include Katherine Rundell, Peter Frankopan, Marlon Jones and Fatima Farheen Mirza.

The festival takes place from September 30-October 1, and tickets are on sale now.
