The Big Brew Up

The Good Morning Britain presenters

In the lead up to Armed Forces Week starting July 25, SSAFA, the UK’s oldest Armed Forces charity is encouraging people all over the UK to take part in the “Big Brew Up” – a nationwide campaign which encourages friends and families to come together and host a tea party, whilst raising vital funds for the military community. So why not get out your baking tins, send out invites and welcome colleagues and loved ones to join you for a get-together?

Some of the nation’s favourite celebrities – including Antony Cotton, Susanna Reid, Piers Morgan and Charlotte Hawking – are joining in the fun and have shared special “mug shots” on social media, with more still to come! See them all on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Jonathan Sandall, SSAFA’s Director of Fundraising says,

This summer we are asking the British public to put the kettle on, host a Big Brew Up, and support our Armed Forces community. The Big Brew Up is fantastic way to catch up with friends and family, try your hand at baking and raise money that will make a real difference. Your donations will help serving men and women, veterans, and their families with the challenges they face during and after life in the Armed Forces.

How To Help

It’s so easy to get involved. Event packs are now available to order at ssafa.org.uk/bigbrewup, for anyone who is eager to host a party and give back to our Armed Forces. The packs contain all the essentials needed for a successful “par-tea”, including a Big Brew Up event guide, posters, event invites, collection tins, balloons and stickers. What are you waiting for?
